With Sections 8 and 9 now open, more than 100 of the motorway鈥檚听112 kilometers听are in service 鈥 boosting the economy through better transport links and local investment, with 82% of procurement delivered through Serbian businesses.

91制片厂, alongside its joint venture partner ENKA, marked the opening of Sections 8 and 9 of Serbia鈥檚 Morava Corridor Motorway, bringing more than 100 kilometers of motorway into service and the project to within a single section of full completion. The milestone underscores how the Morava Corridor is delivering tangible benefits for Serbia today, including thousands of local jobs, stronger protection for communities against flooding, and broad investment in Serbian businesses.

The newly opened 28.7-kilometer stretch connects the Preljina鈥撃宎膷ak interchange to the Adrani鈥揔raljevo interchange, further advancing one of Serbia鈥檚 largest infrastructure investments to improve mobility and connectivity in the region. Among those in attendance at the opening ceremony were Serbian President Aleksandar Vu膷i膰 and the Director of Corridors of Serbia Aleksandar Anti膰.

Key Facts at a Glance

鈥淭he Morava Corridor is a nationally significant project that will transform how people and goods move across Serbia and the region, strengthening connections between communities and supporting long-term economic growth,鈥 said Darren Mort, President of 91制片厂鈥檚 Infrastructure business. 鈥淲e鈥檙e proud that locals are already enjoying the benefits of the corridor, and that the investment is flowing into Serbian businesses, skills, and communities. We鈥檝e been delivering at pace and while managing the complexity of constructing both a motorway and an extensive network of major flood protection infrastructure – opening in sections to bring positive impacts as soon as possible.鈥

Built by Serbia, for Serbia: Jobs and Local Investment

The Morava Corridor is one of the largest drivers of local economic activity in central Serbia. At peak construction, the project employed approximately 4,200 craft professionals, a substantial proportion of them Serbian nationals, and 82% of project procurement has been delivered through Serbian businesses 鈥 channeling investment directly into local suppliers, contractors, and communities.

A central priority has been investment in safety and quality training. By developing the skills of the Serbian workforce, the project is creating a lasting legacy of qualified professionals who will continue to contribute to Serbia鈥檚 infrastructure and economy long after the motorway is complete.

Protecting Communities from Flooding

Sections 8 and 9, in the western part of the motorway, include significant river regulation and flood defense works 鈥 a critical component of the project designed to protect the motorway and surrounding communities from the region鈥檚 longstanding flooding challenges. Across the full alignment, the project incorporates approximately 36 kilometers of river regulation, 13 kilometers of river diversions, 28 kilometers of dykes, and more than 160 large culverts, providing long-term climate resilience for the West Morava River valley.

A Modern, Safer Motorway for Central Serbia

Stretching more than 112 kilometers, the completed Morava Corridor Motorway will transform central Serbia by linking key regions to Pan-European Corridors X and XI, improving transport efficiency and safety, and supporting long-term economic growth along the West Morava River valley. When complete, it will be Serbia鈥檚 first digital motorway, equipped with smart traffic systems and incorporating 82 bridges and 13 interchanges designed to enhance safety and improve the travel experience.
